James1:22 “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only”

The Society of St. Andrew brings people together to harvest and share healthy food, reduce food waste, and build caring communities by offering nourishment to hungry neighbors. In 2024 SoSA has gleaned, gathered, and distributed 1,611,545 pounds of fresh produce in 310 events, with 2,686 volunteers. Food donated by ninety-one farmers has been distributed to hungry people through 241 feeding agencies. That is a total of 6,446,180 servings of fresh food shared with those in need. The NGCUMM Hunger Advocate Howard Evans has partnered with SoSA, that has a network of thousands of farmers, donors, volunteers, churches, and community organizations who goal is to obey Jesus’s charge to Peter in John 21:17 “Feed my Sheep.” The strength of the SoSA network is found in partners like the North Georgia Conference of the UMM. During our last Hunger Advocacy outreach event approx. 8,000 lbs. of produce was collected and distributed to the following locations:

◦    Community Rock Food Pantry
◦    Antioch Baptist Church Food Pantry
◦    Shrine of the Black Madonna – From our Hands to Yours
◦    Red Oak UMC
◦    Feeding God’s People Food Pantry

◦    Bethel UMC
◦    Columbia Drive UMC
